The Synod Assembly is the highest legislative authority of the Slovak Zion Synod. Towards the close of spring and the opening of summer each year, the synod assembly convenes to uplift and celebrate ministries and address the issues facing the leaders, congregations, and agencies within the synod. We gather together for business, but also for worship, spiritual enrichment, engagement in inter-congregational fellowship, and many more opportunities with each year.

Information on each assembly, registration and details, news and media, and more are all available from this page.

Our synod concluded it's 20th annual assembly on June 29th, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Union, NJ. In addition to conducting essential business, this year's alternate year assembly featured multiple worship and workshop opportunities, and the election of a bishop. Workshops were held on such topics as the Book of Faith initiative, Making A difference in Central Europe, Sharing the faith through Creative Crafts, Church Growth, Living Abundantly in Times of Scarcity, A Gathering of Passionate Stewards, and Growing up Generous. A hearing was also held on the ELCA Draft Social Statement on Sexuality. A plenary enrichment session was held by the Rev. Scott Schantzenbach, ELCA Stewardship Specialist, and Assistant to the Bishop, New Jersey Synod. More info on his work is available on the SZSO Stewardship page. Among those present, was a Board of Pensions representative, as well as an Augsburg Fortress store on site.     The election for Bishop was held at the 2008 assembly. The election closed with the Rev. Wilma S. Kucharek re-elected with 86% of the votes cast.
